Conversation Dave had with Penny this afternoon while changing her out of her dress and into shorts.
Penny: "I'm a boy. I'm a boy."
Dave: "No you're not, you're a girl."
Penny: "I'm a girlfriend!"

Yes she is a girlfriend and for the record Jillian often talks about her "best friend Penny".
